Optimising your website is key!
Not only are these brands plastered all over the show but often they are positioned in prime space on home pages! Not only this, but more recently I am seeing trip advisor and other third party community dumped on hotel sites… What’s going on people..where is the benefit?
Surely….and I might be wrong here..but if you have something to say and to offer people that come and visit you on your website, that you have this information positioned in a prime position your home page instead of asking that they sign up for facebook and the likes or having a web space panel with tweets from “who cares and who knows?”.
After all, you have just spent hours of energy through your search engine optimisation program getting people to your site, and now once they are there you are giving up this opportunity for them to concentrate on just “you” with links to other third sites that have your competition on them (eg: Facebook, Twitter, Trip Advisor)….
Here’s a strange and qwerty idea???…why not bring everyone that goes to these so mentioned sites over to your website instead, once you have them on your website, keep them there….show them you care….tell them what you can offer them, the problems you can solve…. the solutions on offer and then keep them sweet after the contact is made with opportunities to keep in contact after the initial contact is made.
Asking them for to sign up here….join you on twitter, read my reviews on trip advisor, even signing up for special offers is just like…asking someone for a date without first knowing anything about the other person.
So here is the pattern as I see it today..
Google search> People find your site > Home page content competing with space about… (Facebook linking, Twitter-ing, Sign up for email offers etc.)
How’s this for a pattern…..
Google search > People find your site > home page (Sell features, benefits, testimonials, introduce yourself and your products offerings, tell people where they can go to find out more information on areas of interest to them…hold their hands, guide them through and softly sell them your credibility)….
For those people that find you on these social sites first…your intention should be to be to send them to your very “own self centred website”…so that you can be selfish and have them all to your self!
Until next time…
Dave.
